FlameCircle is a global community platform for fire spinning, flow arts, and related disciplines. The app and website (flamecircle.app) are operated by Rebecca Robinson, an individual based in the United Kingdom.

For the purposes of UK data protection law and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Rebecca Robinson is the data controller for personal data collected through FlameCircle.

Account & Profile Data

When you create an account, we may collect:

• Display name or username
• Email address
• Password (stored securely as a hashed value — we never see your plain-text password)
• Profile photo (optional, if you choose to upload one)
• Brief bio or discipline tags (e.g. fire staff, poi, hoop) — optional

Usage & Technical Data

We automatically collect certain technical information when you use FlameCircle:

• Device type (iOS/Android/web), operating system version
• App version number
• Pages and features you visit within the app (analytics only — no keystroke logging)
• IP address (used for security and approximate regional purposes only)
• Crash logs and error reports

Content You Submit

• Event listings you create or submit
• Community posts, group descriptions, or forum contributions
• Reviews or ratings of suppliers or events
• Blog comments (if enabled)
• Photos or videos you choose to upload

Data We Do Not Collect

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we must have a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following bases:

FlameCircle includes an interactive global map displaying fire spinning meet-ups, jams, events, and community locations worldwide.

How Location Data Works

• Map pins: Event and location data shown on the map is either submitted by community members or collected from publicly available sources. No individual tracking occurs.
• Your device location: If you grant location permission, we use your approximate location to centre the map and suggest nearby events. This is processed on-device and is not stored on our servers without your explicit permission.
• Weather data: Weather forecasts for event locations are fetched from a weather API (such as Open-Meteo, a free and privacy-respecting service). Only the coordinates of the event you are viewing are sent — never your personal device location.
• Publicly submitted events: If you submit an event with a location, that location becomes part of the public map data visible to all users.

Automated Data Collection (Map)

FlameCircle periodically collects publicly available information about fire spinning events from the open internet to keep the map up to date. This process:

• Only collects information that is publicly posted online (e.g. event listings, community announcements)
• Does not collect any personal data beyond publicly listed event details (organiser name, date, location, description)
• Complies with the terms of service of the sources used
• Does not store information about private individuals without their consent

FlameCircle is a community-driven platform. Content you submit — including event listings, group descriptions, forum posts, and profile information — may be visible to other users of the app.

• Do not include sensitive personal information in publicly visible content.
• You retain ownership of content you create. By submitting content, you grant FlameCircle a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content within the platform.
• We reserve the right to remove content that violates our Community Guidelines, is unlawful, or endangers safety.
• You can request deletion of your submitted content at any time by contacting us.

FlameCircle uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform. Each is subject to their own privacy policy:

We do not use third-party advertising networks. We do not share your data with social media platforms except through links you choose to follow (e.g. our Instagram or Facebook pages).

• Account data: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.
• Usage analytics: Retained in aggregated, anonymised form. Individual logs are deleted after 90 days.
• Crash logs: Deleted after 30 days.
• Community content: Retained as long as your account is active or until you request deletion.
• Legal compliance data: Retained for as long as required by applicable law.

FlameCircle is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. Fire spinning and flow arts involve real safety risks, and our platform discusses fire performance, fuel handling, and live performance environments.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@flamecircle.app and we will delete that data promptly.

For users aged 13–17, parental or guardian consent is required to create an account.

We take data security seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These include:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Secure, hashed storage of passwords (never stored in plain text)
• Access controls limiting who can access personal data
• Regular security reviews

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights, we will notify you and the relevant supervisory authority as required by law.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the platform evolves. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify registered users by email or in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect
• For material changes that affect your rights, ask for your renewed consent where required

Continued use of FlameCircle after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
